KORWEN & JULIE | Uganda

MEET OUR FAMILY

Korwen and Julie Kronberg were both part of the Waypoint family since its early years and quickly jumped into the church planting track as soon as they were married in 2013. Both coming from a missions background, they felt confident that the Lord was leading them towards long-term missions. The Lord spoke very clearly to them about Uganda while attending World Mandate in 2014. They were able to land in Arua, Uganda, with two kids in tow in 2019, and welcomed their third child while living in Uganda in 2021. The Kronbergs have a heart to say "yes" to Jesus in whatever He calls them to in Arua and Northern Uganda.

OUR HEART AND MISSION

Korwen and Julie both have a heart to build deep relationships that lead to rich discipleship. They've facilitated discipleship groups with people in their communities, looking for ‘people of peace’ who have a desire to make disciples of others.  The Lord has led them to some beautiful partnerships with fellow locals and expats who have a heart to build discipleship efforts in their own ministries. They partner with Sunflower Ministries, a holistic ministry that focuses on supporting and empowering children with disabilities and their families. This includes both the team professional support in the area of special education, as well as co-leading the discipleship team, training and equipping them to meet with the caregivers of the Sunflowers.

We have found the most success in our ministry through natural relationships as well shared passions and interests. Through Julie's previous professional career in the states as a special education teacher, there was a natural partnership with Sunflower Ministries and its desire to grow both professionally in special education as well as in their discipleship efforts to the families. Korwen has been invited into discipleship partnerships as, over time, people in the community have seen his heart and approach to discipleship and want to include him in their ministry efforts.

LIFE IN OUR CORNER OF THE WORLD

We live near the beach, and the boys love being outside, running along the sand, exploring the outdoors, and climbing mango and papaya trees to pick fresh tropical fruit growing wild along the road. Having this kind of space has been such a gift for our family, especially in this season of life.

Our beautiful country in Central America is has a rich culture and a warm, resilient people. The nation is predominantly Christian—about 58% of the population identifies as Catholic and 21% as Evangelical Protestant, a number that has been steadily growing. People here are hungry for spiritual truth, and we are encouraged by the openness we see in so many hearts.

We are so grateful for your ongoing prayers, encouragement, and support. Your partnership enables us to be present here—to pour into lives, share the love of Jesus, and be a light in our community. Please continue to pray for open doors, protection, and fruitfulness in the work ahead.
