Waypoint Church
Core practices

As we follow Jesus, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. Knowledge alone has the tendency to puff up (I Corinthians 8:1), but Jesus taught his disciples while also having them live out His teachings practically. Because of this, we have come up with five core practices that help us put our core values into action. We believe that each of these practices is essential to life as a follower of Jesus, and we are committed to seeing everyone at Waypoint experience these five things.

1.    Intimacy

This core practice is all about worship and prayer. We believe that these are the key ways to nurture and fan into flame a passion for Jesus, and intimacy with Him. The Bible makes it clear that we are made to worship Him and be intimate with Him.
Psalm 95:1-6, John 4:23-24, Deuteronomy 4:7, Luke 5:16, Luke 6:12, Matthew 6:9, I Thessalonians 5:16-17

2.    Word

We desire to be a people who know the Bible, and experience God through His Word.
Joshua 1:8

3.    Mission

This core practice is what the other 4 hinge on, because Mission gives the other practices purpose. Each person already has a mission: to raise up followers of Jesus who live life Up, In, and Out.
Matthew 28:19-20

4.    Transformation

It is crucial for everyone to be experiencing discipleship and accountability. Making disciples is our mandate, and we do not take that lightly.
I Corinthians 4:16-17, 2 Timothy 2:2

5.    Team

Jesus set the example by living and ministering in a community of twelve. Because we’re made to live in community, we don’t want anyone to be living life on their own.
Matthew 18:20, Ecclesiastes 4:12
